Funerals are never an easy time. When you are at war with yourself over your past, when the person being buried played a key role in what has become your conflict, it grows harder. Contains strong language and other scenes making this about on a par with an R rated movie, so not suitable for younger readers.

Reflections

A mirror universe setting can be a hit or miss even on professional works. With Fanfiction, it is a proverbial minefield. Lothar Goldfist however appears to have a very good mine detector, as this FF6 offering is executed well and has a distinct atmosphere of mystery and draws the reader in well.

The Roses of Death

An FF6 fic giving backstory to a character many found intriguing in FF6, yet was given very little story in game. This follows Seigfried as he moves through his life following kefka's defeat, and as he battles his own past. Some violent scenes.

A fanfiction from onelowerlight dealing with the moments preceeding the titular end event, this piece mainly deals with the worries and fears of the characters as they face off against an arrogant and taunting Kefka.

Mog Soldiers

A parody fic inspired mostly by the movie Dog Soldiers, this dark comedy fic sees an original band of characters pitted against semi-original foes in the mountains of Narshe.

The Hand of the Reaper

Third submission from manapriestess, this one derails from her two previous stories, being a long, rather lively and sometimes humourous take on Sabin's adventure, from the beginning of his scenario to his escape from Doma.

A Meeting in Maranda

Another great piece from Manapriestess, this one takes place a few time before the game, and is sort of a "what if" story about a possible encounter between Locke and Celes. It also portrays Celes from a very interesting angle.

Boat Scene

An in-game story, relating the events happening on the boat bringing Terra, Shadow, Locke and the Imperials towards Thamasa. It is focused on Terra's inner struggle, taking a unique road in regards of her feeings.

Between the Lines

This short and serious fanfiction takes place during an imperial invasion, putting the reader in the place of helpless civilians. It also features a game character, shown in all his unique personality.

Madness ...and a Beetle

A short, in-game fanfiction centering around Cyan from a creative perspective.

Blood and Honor

This latest, 8-chapter fanfic by Zephir takes place after the game, and as with Ikiiri, he is using someone that is not one of the main characters from the game. It focuses on events in the Colloseum, and is an interesting, action-packed fanfic.

The White Cloaks

Using a character that is often ignored, this fanfiction is a skewed look at an event that happened in-game, with very damaging results to many. Short and creative.

But.....I Don't Have the Answer

This fanfiction takes place after the end of the game, but isn't your typical after-death fanfic. It focuses on Terra for the latter part, and is a very interesting look at what humanity is dangerously close to ending up as.

The Essence of Mimicry

Mr Thou hails from France, and this is his first submission to the fanfiction section. You can see his European style in this interesting tale about the mysterious Gogo, and Daryl's encounter with this being. A serious fanfic, it's a great portrayal of Daryl, and has a wonderful ending.

Unavenged Dead

This short piece is the winner of the Caves of Narshe Gogo Fanfiction contest, held in the Spring of 2004. The object was to write a convincing short fanfiction depicting how one of the NPCs in the world of FF6 came to be Gogo. Example: Daryl as Gogo, Baram as Gogo, Gesthal as Gogo, etc. Del's choice is interesting, and he made a creative backstory for how his chosen NPC came to be Gogo. The revised version expands the story, giving a leadup to an in-game event and then continuing from that event onwards.

Ikiiri

As with his last piece, this fanfiction does not centre around a main character from the game. Instead, Zephir has created a whole new species to grace the world of FF6. This is a sad, yet satisfying, tale of a young female named Ikiiri, who is trying to make sense of the world around her.

The Diary of a Man... Long not a Soldier

A regular of both the forums and the chatroom, this is the first time that Zephir has submitted a fic to the CoN. It's a very interesting and thoughtful look at part of the life of a man who was forced to become a soldier, from the perspective of his diary.

The War of the Magi - Nothing Else Matters

An original songfic about the events of the War of the Magi, set to a Metallica song. Very unique, which says a lot for an Final Fantasy VI fic.

The Lights

A series of fanfics dealing with the world after the defeat of Kefka, as the heroes and heroines adjust to life after world-saving heroics.

The Small Man and the Large

A fable set in the world of Final Fantasy VI, The Small Man has only tangental references to the world but is a wonderful short story all the same. This is worth your time, without a doubt.

A Reintroduction

This is a great fanfic that is brutally hard to categorize in a table of contents. It's a serial fic that has several threads that move in and out of the readers' purview.

The Return

Nate finished this fic in an amazingly short time. Probably because each of the chapters is about a half-page long. ^_^
