17. Edward's Trial
| Enemies: | Specter, Lunar Shiva |
| Treasures: |
A snowbound kingdom awaits you when you step foot inside the trial cavern designated for the bard prince in your party. As you step forward, Edward comes to the realization that the frosty kingdom is none other than his own Damcyan. A voice cries out for help, which leads Edward into the kingdom. The Requiem Harp is obtained as it’s just sitting out in the middle of the ground. Right after grabbing it, you’ll be attacked by a blue ghost. The battle is on auto pilot at the start, so sit back and watch your group helplessly attack the wandering spirit. The ghost keeps disappearing like all defeated enemies do, but it respawns every time. After a couple rounds, Edward ceases the battle using his gift of song. The Requiem he sings sets the soul at ease and ceases the battle.
When you’ve done that, head inside the kingdom where you’ll see two more souls waiting to be freed. All the souls you encounter can only be defeated by having Edward use Sing. But first they must be thwacked first. Once you kill them once and have them reform, have Edward use Sing to defeat them. Climb the kingdom, freeing all the souls you meet. When you get to the top floor, those healing pots to the left and right are still there and still in tact, so take the time to drink and heal up. When you have freed all the souls, the sky will grow even darker, leading you to an underground passage. You have the choice to move along on the ground or in the water. Stick to the strip of land and follow it until you meet another soul. Cross the short bridge to meet another troubled spirit. When you got those two, find the hidden passage at the left side of the wall to get across to the strip of land that was guarded by a waterfall. You’ll come across two of them as you follow the path. If you keep following it, you’ll find the last one next to a waterfall in the corner. If you backtrack, you’ll find a door has opened along the bottom section of the cavern. When you go in, you’ll find the source of the blizzard.

Surprise, surprise. The source of the blizzard is Lunar Shiva. True to form, Shiva will try to best you with plenty of ice elemental attacks. Her coupe de grace is a powerful blast called Ice Storm. But even at that, properly equipped, it's easily survivable. Shiva doesn't have much else up her sleeves. She will consistently batter you with a mediocre physical attack and also douse a decently powered Otherwise, this should be the easiest lunar guardian fight you should face. This is the perfect fight to have your heavy hitters in, so long as you have a designated healer to get some HP back after a Blaze or Ice Storm or two. Just drill her with everything you have. Her defense is quite low, so she'll take the physical harm pretty strikingly. There really should be no problem against her. Shiva will be done like Thanksgiving dinner. | |||||||
