20. Rydia's Trial

Enemies: Mist Eagle, Mist Summoner, Mist Kraken, Ifrit, Titan, Ramuh, Shiva, Lunar Dragon
Treasures: RingMist Ring

Rydia’s trial begins in a cloud of mist. When you walk forward, you’ll see Rydia surrounded by mist, reverting her to her childhood form. Right after, she’ll lose the ability of summon. If you head straight, you’ll find a web of fog that is impossible to get through. Best to look around. If you look around, you’ll find, one by one, the summoned monsters that have recently abandoned Rydia. You’ll have to take them on in a fight to earn their trust back. None of the fights are that tough. Once you take on Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, and Ramuh, the thick fog that you couldn’t get by will dissipate when you approach it to move on.

When you step forward, another bout of mist approaches you for the final challenge.

Strategy

This battle is pretty simple. Dragon really won't bring much of anything. He'll start by drilling the entire party with Poison Gas. Also in his arsenal is Sleeping Gas, which more often than not completely misses, as well as a pretty powerful physical attack. The physical attack is really the only thing you have to worry about save for the long intervals between the poison damaging. Dragon also likes to use Recover sparingly to bring back some health.

Here's a simple strategy. Hold no punches and just drill him with everything you've got. He's got shoddy defense and no immediate counter attacks. From time to time he'll dissipate into mist, which will result in a shot of Cold Mist if you attack him. But otherwise, just blow him away with the best of what you got. Physical strikes are big, so this would be a good fight if you have your heavy hitters. But he's just as susceptible to powerful magic, so either is welcome. Dragon won't stand a chance.

When you claim victory, you’ll receive the RingMist Ring. It beefs up Rydia’s defense as well as raising the power of her summons. Your foes will quiver in fear.
