Biography

Beatrix is an early antagonist of Final Fantasy IX who serves as one of Queen Brahne's top soldiers. Beatrix has duties protecting Princess Garnet as well, but following Garnet's escape from Alexandria, Beatrix took on more of a role of executing upon Queen Brahne's violent demands. She is extremely powerful, wielding the Save The Queen sword that appears frequently throughout the Final Fantasy series, and is a foil in the party's side on multiple occasions. She uses many powerful sword techniques that Steiner can learn much later in the game.

Beatrix comes to her senses and turns on Queen Brahne later in the game after she realizes that Brahne has attempted to extract Eidolons from Garnet's body. She stays behind and fights in order to cover for Garnet and her party's escape. As a player character, Beatrix has access to many sword techniques as well as some White Magic.

It is unknown for a while if Beatrix survived Kuja's assault on Alexandria, but much to the relief of Steiner (and the rest of the party), she survived. She and Steiner become and item and later serve together as top guards to Queen Garnet.
