Like Omega, Shinryuu, and the world famous Emerald and Ruby Weapons, this guy is a side, optional boss. And that means he is absolutely the toughest guy in the game. His speed is immense, he's amazingly powerful in magic strength and physical strength, and he's not afraid to flex it. Amongst his weapons include a one-shot kill Glare, a brutal physical attack that he throws out two or sometimes three at a time, and everyone's favorite, Mega Flare. You'll see the countdown begin at 3 and progress to 0. However, if you strike him during the countdown, he'll cease the countdown and move onto a new, and believe it or not a more deadly, attack pattern. If you do strike him, he'll cast Protect and Reflect on himself. He'll then proceed to bounce for very, very high powered magic attacks off of himself and onto you. And not just one spell, he'll blow three at a time off. If you're unlucky enough, you may end up with 2 dead allies in one turn. He'll run this pattern until you're nice and dead. This battle will take a lot of strategy. This won't be your simple attack and heal when needed kind of battle. Before fighting, I highly suggest you have both Rosa and Porom in your party. I also suggest having a nice nest egg of Phoenix Downs. One more bit of advice, if you were stockpiling all your Megalixirs, now's the time to unload them all. You will be using a lot of them. Your allies will have to consistently be using Phoenix Downs and Megalixirs, no matter who they are. You really have no time to wait for the right character to come up. Have Cecil and the rest of your heavy hitters smack the dragon as much as they can. Whoever falls, the next person up should revive them. When Rosa and Porom come up, have them use Reflect until all the allies are covered. If one of the characters dies, their wall is gone, so you'll have to do it again. When Brachioraidos starts his countdown, cease attacking him. As mentioned before, if you attack him during the countdown, he'll change to his even more brutal attack pattern. And keeping him on his physical attack-Glare pattern is actually more merciful than watching him blow you away with his potent magic attack. So don't attack him on his countdown, and as it hits zero, if you successfully reflected all your members, the Mega Flare will bounce off everyone and give him a pretty huge dose of pain. If you continually keep this up, some considerable damage will be taken from him every time. It'll take a pretty long while—upwards of 20 to 30 minutes—but if you can keep this momentum going, you can get it done. Or, you could just take Kain and hit him repeatedly with the Abel's Lance. If it casts Tornado, it could end the battle straightaway.

This guy appears when you try to take Yang's weapon. He holds no punches and is actually pretty simple to figure out. He starts out doing two physical strikes and then unleashes Tornado, a strong wind attack against everyone. Dole out the damage with Cecil using his sword. Yang is best suited using Power. Rosa will need to make sure everyone is healed after the power of Tornado. Your best source of damage is going to come from Yang and his stored up power hit. Now, sometimes if you keep him alive too long, Storm Dragon will dish out Maelstrom which brings everyone in the group down to single digit HP. Getting cured is of the essence otherwise you won't live that much longer. It'll take a couple dollops of raw pain to take him out, but don't fret.

Edward's harp is guarded by this guy. He hits pretty heavily, and often. He counter attacks all physical attacks with a physical attack of his own. He'll also come up with Vampire every once in a while. That's it in his bag of tricks, so this should be the easiest fight of the bunch. Just throw all your strongest stuff at him and be mindful of the counter attacks. A curing here and there and this guy will go down like a sack of bricks.

This is the battle that awaits you when you try to take Palom's dagger. As you should know from previous battles, your physical attacks will be moot against the flans, so you and I both hope you have some mages to carve some powerful magic into them. You'll notice that you can't attack Master Flan until his supporting flans are gone. Even worse, the first thing he does is cast Reflect on himself. While you're taking out his minions, he'll proceed to cast high level magic off himself onto your unsuspecting characters. That's going to eat up your HP real quick, so it's important to have a healer. As the flans go down, leave one of them alive. If one is alive, you can attack the Master Flan. If they all go down, he'll simply reform them back (I know that's what I would do too if I was a master of flan. That's pretty much the only superhero power you get, after all). Keep one alive and then hopefully you have one or two heavy hitters hanging around to lay into him without resorting to magic. Cecil is going to attack, and if Yang is still hanging around, his Power will work wonders here. To increase the annoyance factor, you'll find Master Flan has a lot of HP. But once he does disintegrate, take out the last remaining flan and victory is yours.

When you approach Porom's staff, this guy will appear. He has pretty low level physical hits, but he has a lot of HP. He'll start off hitting physically and throw in the occasional Earthquake. It shouldn't be a whole lot of damage, none that couldn't be made up with a quick Curaja. Or, of course, you could preempt T-Rex with a quick shot of Float. Be warned, though, keep the black magic at home. He counters every elemental spell with an even stronger version of it on all party members. This is the ideal fight to have the powerhouses in on, particularly Yang. Using Power against T-Rex will hit for shellshocking damage every time. He does have a lot of HP and some decent defense, but if you refrain from black magic and keep the HP up from what's lost when he uses Earthquake, T-Rex should go down.

This is the guy you face when you approach the pick designated for Cid. His speed is slow, but he makes up for that with some really powerful attacks. He'll start out with Flame which burns up all allies. He'll then come at you with Laser which will most likely one-hit kill the character it selects. That said, this battle is easy. His slow speed and surprisingly low defense will prove ideal. He takes a lot of damage from Cid's hammer. If you still have Yang and Palom in your party, have Yang use Power for a huge hit, and Palom deliver a blast of Firaga to him for more big damage. Death Mech will go down in no time at all.

Any kind of Bahamut is bad. But one of the Lunar variety? And only one character to fight him with? Yeah, that's the making for a very tough fight. His attack sequence is really easy. 3… 2… 1…. Mega Flare. He'll counter every attack you throw at him with a pretty heavy physical strike. His flare takes away pretty much 5000 every time. Timing is going to be everything in this battle. It'll be important to use Jump just in time to miss the Mega Flare. The problem is Bahamut has incredible speed meaning if you try to jump when he's at 1, you're in trouble as he'll blow the Mega Flare in your face. If you aren't completely dead from the flare, use an Elixir on yourself. Use the Megalixirs if necessary. You may end up using a bunch of them, so don't be shy. This is the fight you save them for. If you consistently stay completely fueled and time Jump just right, you'll have a good game plan. Unfortunately, Lunar Bahamut has no sympathy that it's only Kain battling, so like his other lunar brethren, he has a buttload of HP. If you don't have a nice stockpile of Elixirs and Megalixirs, this may be a very hard bout. There is one huge helper if you have it, though. If you have a Light Curtain or Lunar Curtain in your inventory, that will be the difference maker. These certain items cast Reflect on the user. If you use this, it'll bounce Mega Flare off of Kain and smack a good portion of HP off of himself. But if you're fresh out of these curtains, then I wish you the best of luck. Remember, time your jumps, and use Elixirs like it's going out of style.

Well as if you couldn't tell, Lunar Levy is much like his Earthen counterpart. He'll open up with a pretty strong Tidal Wave and continually use it throughout the battle. Also in his arsenal is a decently damaging Blizzaga. But the move you have to keep a close eye on is his use of Maelstrom, which will take everyone down to single digit HP. It'll be important to recover from this move very quickly as his next move after using this is usually Tidal Wave. So if you don't recover quickly, you'll find yourself on the Game Over screen. Now is a good time to bust out those Megalixirs you've undoubtedly been stockpiling since being in the Lunar Ruins. If that's not an option, use Curaja like it's going out of style. If you can avoid that fate, then this guy should go down. Pound away at him with your heavy hitters. Have Palom (and Rydia if she is also with you) wail away at the serpent with Thundaga as he is extremely weak against lightning. If you're up in level, you'll see it take 9999 a pop. A slew of those as well as some big time hits from Cecil and the heavy hitters and Lunar Leviathan will meet the same fate as regular Leviathan.

Think back to your previous battle with the vicious swordsman. Lightning, Curaja, and powerful physical attacks will be your best friends. Odin will consistently break out his favorite attack, Zantetsuken. If you're still under leveled, you probably won't survive that first strike as it blows 4000 off. Mixing it up, he'll bring a pretty moderate physical strike. Then he'll strike with an even more powerful Zantetsuken, marked by a different position of his sword. And just to throw even more pain at you, Holy is also in his arsenal. Prepare the Phoenix Downs and Thundaga. Doling out big time damage is the name of the game. Cecil with his new weapon will be a big part. If you took on this fight without Rosa or Porom, you are as good as dead. Curaja is an absolute necessity. In fact, it might do good to have both of them in your party for this one to rapidly recover from the brutality of Zantetsuken. With Rydia or Palom, blast away with Thundaga. Have your heavy hitters smash Odin with their four-digit smashes. If you have Yang and have completed his trial already, here's where Deadly comes in real handy. If you have refrained from his trial, just have him smack down. If necessary, have one of your characters throw around the X-Potions you picked up on the way here. It'll take a lot of damage, rapid healing, and a little bit of luck, but he is beatable.

Like her Earthen self, Lunar Asura has three faces, each one dictating an attack. She'll revolve her heads after she's been attacked physically. Her normal, pretty face strikes with a physical attack, or heal herself with Curaga or the far more potent Restore. The angry face blows one character away with a powerful third level elemental spell. The happy face will come with annoying status effecting spells, or occasionally smash a character with Globe 199, which is pretty much a one-hit kill. Asura has an obscene amount of HP which isn't helped by the fact that she can restore herself pretty heartily. You can use the same approach when you fought her last and cast Reflect on her to deflect her Curaga in you wish. But the reflection will not reflect her Restore, which does far more HP. Plus it completely takes away your black magic power. That said, Lunar Asura is not a very tough fight. The biggest challenge she'll present is blasting you with one of her three powerful spells, which usually only attacks one at a time. Just delve into her with your best stuff. Keep your members alive and healthy and Asura is toast.

This guy is a behemoth. He has very strong physical attacks, and like his Earth brethren, he wallops you with a powerful Earthquake attack. A quick Float fixes that. On top of that, he also has a gradual petrification move, as well as Crush, which you should all be well familiar with from Evil Wall. He also has an obscene amount of HP, meaning you're in for a long battle no matter how leveled you are. But for all that, he does have some pretty low defense, and is very susceptible to physical attacks, especially Yang. He'll smack LT for some big damage every time. And by now, his speed will be off the charts. So keep him just attacking, steering away from using Power as that just takes away time. Have your other characters use their specialty. Keep the powerhouses drilling, the black mages dishing out their best stuff, and white mages curing from the brutal hits Titan dishes out. Eventually, he'll fall like a tree during logging season.

This battle is pretty simple. Dragon really won't bring much of anything. He'll start by drilling the entire party with Poison Gas. Also in his arsenal is Sleeping Gas, which more often than not completely misses, as well as a pretty powerful physical attack. The physical attack is really the only thing you have to worry about save for the long intervals between the poison damaging. Dragon also likes to use Recover sparingly to bring back some health. Here's a simple strategy. Hold no punches and just drill him with everything you've got. He's got shoddy defense and no immediate counter attacks. From time to time he'll dissipate into mist, which will result in a shot of Cold Mist if you attack him. But otherwise, just blow him away with the best of what you got. Physical strikes are big, so this would be a good fight if you have your heavy hitters. But he's just as susceptible to powerful magic, so either is welcome. Dragon won't stand a chance.

This guy is one tough customer. So much so that his “big attack” is really the least of your worries. His big attack happens when he turns red. It'll look bad, but it's only a mid-level Flame attack which will be lucky if takes off any more than 1500. This guy counters everything. If you strike him physically, he'll counter with his very powerful physical attack. If you think you're smart to throw an ice elemental spell at him, he'll counter with a crushing Glare. As his HP runs down, he'll change up his attack scheme to include a punishing Firaga. This battle is about attacking smart. Because of the brutality of his physical attack, just laying into him is a bad idea. If all your guys are on the lower half of their HP, refrain from attacking until you get the HP back over half. The fire spells really shouldn't get you, unless you're dumb enough to use ice spells and get blasted by Glare. If Porom or Rosa is with you, a casting of Protect sure wouldn't hurt to dull down some of the damage. If you make sure you stay healthy and refrain from attacking long enough to take a breather from his massive counter attacks, then he'll fall.

Take one guess at what his specialty is. If you guessed lightning, have a cookie. He'll counter every physical attack against him with Thundaga, on top of just throwing it out there every so often. He also has a mediocre Blitz move and a pretty pedestrian physical strike. Be wary when he opens up his stance. A heavy blast of Lightning will come your way, smashing all of your guys. Hopefully you're leveled up enough by now where they won't be that horrendous in damage. If you're leveled, it shouldn't be that hard. In fact, this is one of the easier lunar guardian fights. Have your white mage keep the HP up, and just lay into him with your best attacks. I've found that Yang's Deadly move is bread and butter, raking in over 8000 every time. If there's one thing Lunar Ramuh has going for him, it's that he has a seemingly limitless amount of health. You could be delving at him with your best stuff and he just won't go away. But with due diligence, you'll be the victor.

Surprise, surprise. The source of the blizzard is Lunar Shiva. True to form, Shiva will try to best you with plenty of ice elemental attacks. Her coupe de grace is a powerful blast called Ice Storm. But even at that, properly equipped, it's easily survivable. Shiva doesn't have much else up her sleeves. She will consistently batter you with a mediocre physical attack and also douse a decently powered Blizzaga on an ally from time to time. Also, curiously, she packs a fire spell with her, Blaze, that'll fry your allies. If you're thinking you'll go after her with fire elemental spells, or any attacking magic for that matter, you might want to think twice. She counters every damaging magic attack against her (except summons) by casting Blizzaga on herself to regain some health. Otherwise, this should be the easiest lunar guardian fight you should face. This is the perfect fight to have your heavy hitters in, so long as you have a designated healer to get some HP back after a Blaze or Ice Storm or two. Just drill her with everything you have. Her defense is quite low, so she'll take the physical harm pretty strikingly. There really should be no problem against her. Shiva will be done like Thanksgiving dinner.

This guy, like his “brother”, has a lot of nasty surprises. His arsenal is fully loaded. He'll throw out Big Bang every so often, so have your healer at the ready for a quick Curaja. Also out of the gate, he'll transform your party into toads. It may take a turn or two to recover back into human form. Also at his disposal is the single digit HP inducing Whirl, and a very powerful Flare. To add to the carnage, his coupe de grace is dishing out a combination of Earthquake, Lightning, and Flame that'll make your HP vanish in the blink of an eye. On top of that, he'll also send a Tidal Wave – Tornado combo at you as well. When his HP reaches a certain point, he'll begin to assault you 5 times in a row with his physical attack. Most likely you'll need a Phoenix Down to bring the assaulted teammate back to consciousness. You might want to be careful if you have Palom or Rydia in your party as he'll counter every black magic spell with Reflect, essentially making your black mages unusable (unless you want to use the loophole by using Reflect on a party member and bounce the black magic spell off of them. Or you can use an unreflectable spell like Quake or Meteor). You should prepare for this battle like you did against the original Zeromus. He'll barrage you with a lot of attacks and take away your HP at a high level. You may wish to be stocked up on Phoenix Downs, and all the Megalixirs you've obtained on your trip through the Ruins will prove very useful too. Your attack strategy will vary depending on who you have in your party. Just keep in mind that the bulk of your offense is going to come from the heavy hitters: Cecil, Yang, Kain, and/or Cid. You might want to be careful when you use Cecil if he is equipped with the Lightbringer. The weapon randomly casts Holy, and even though it's an additional attack, if Zeromus has cast Reflect on himself, the Holy will reflect off of him and smack one of your unfortunate team members. Kain should continuously jump. If you completed his trial and have Double Jump, that's even better. If you have Yang with you, and if you have completed his trial and have Deadly, use that. If you did not and are still stuck with Power, bypass it and go for a normal physical attack. The damage done by Deadly makes up for the time it takes. Power does not. If Edge is with you, have him throw out everything you have in your inventory. Cid will strike with his powerful hammer. Rosa is obviously your designated healer. Porom is as well, albeit if Palom is with her, and you completed their trial, use their Twin magic and hope for the Double Meteor attack. Rydia is best off using her strongest summon, which hopefully is Bahamut by now. If you keep the attacks coming consistently and pop Megalixirs and Curaja absolutely whenever needed, Zeromus EG will meet the same fate as his "brother".
