Additional Information
Cecil's first encounter of Yang occurs while Yang is battling the remnants of a monstrous hoarde that has already killed the rest of his men. Seeing a lone warrior under assault, Cecil and his friends aid him in fighting them off. When Yang reveals that the monster attack has rendered him the sole survivor of Fabul's master monks, the group puts two and two together and realizes that Golbez has succeeded in weakening Fabul in order to more easily seize the Crystal of Air. Yang joins Cecil's party, and together they make haste for Fabul to warn its king of the impending attack.
Yang spearheads the resistance effort and joins Cecil's expedition to Baron once the crystal is taken and Rosa is kidnapped. When Leviathan attacks the ship and Rydia is thrown overboard, Yang dives in to save her. Unfortunately, he does not resurface, and both are lost.
When Cecil finally arrives in Baron, he finds Yang in the pub, apparently having joined the palace guard. Yang has lost all memory of his past and does not recognize Cecil, and he orders his men to attack.
Fortunately, a blow to the head restores Yang to his senses, and he begs Cecil's forgiveness for attacking him. He rejoins the party and fights at Cecil's side as he rescues Rosa and journeys into the underworld to meet the dwarves.
Yang continues with the party to the Tower of Babil, where they discover that a powerful cannon has been built and prepped to annihilate the dwarves. The party tries to shut it off without success. Finally, Yang shoves his friends out of the room, locks the door, and blows up the controls to the cannon to keep it from firing. He is presumed dead in the ensuing explosion, and Cecil mourns his loss.
Later, in an optional sidequest, Cecil discovers that Yang somehow survived the explosion and has been rescued by the Sylphs. Despite their tender care, Yang remains in a deep coma. When his wife is told that her husband survived after all but hasn't woken up, she sends Cecil back with her favorite frying pan to knock some sense into his thick skull.
Yang comes to and wishes to rejoin the party, but the Sylphs beg him to stay. In any case, he is barely strong enough to stand, and Cecil insists that he remain behind to gather his strength.
When the Giant of Babil appears, Yang joins the Dwarven forces, still accompanied by a contingent of sylphs.
After the final battle, Yang is seen ascending the throne of Fabul as the old king retires.
