Final Fantasy IX Eidolons

Eidolons are the summons of Final Fantasy IX, and unlike most games in the series, you can have two of them in your party at once: Eiko and Dagger. However, each of the summoners can learn only some of the overall set of Eidolons, and there is no crossover between the two.
There are two important things to know about how Eidolons work in battle: first, the gem addon that allows a summoner to learn the Eidolon has strength in numbers. The more gems you have of the type that teach the Eidolon, the more powerful that summon will be. Additionally, the power of a summon changes based on whether you get a short or a long animation when the creature is summoned. This is left to chance unless the summoner has the [ability]link::Boost[/ability] ability equipped; while active, [ability]nolink::Boost[/ability] will always result in the longer, more powerful summon sequence.
