Biography

Delita's younger sister and Alma's best friend, Tietra grew up as a ward of House Beoulve after her parents, serfs serving the lordship, died in the plague. As such, her status remains in limbo between that of the commoners and that of the nobility, neither fully included nor excluded from either. She is bullied for her lack of station at school with Alma, who does her best to shield her.

When a raid on Eagrose goes wrong, Tietra is kidnapped due to mistaken identity; she is assumed to be the daughter of House Beoulve and taken for ransom. The core of the story in Chapter One revolves around her rescue, but in the end, the nobility that never fully accepted her provides one final insult - killing her as a hostage in front of her brother so that her hostage-takers have no leverage against Gallionne.
