Cid

Biography

Cid is a brilliant engineer and inventor who discovered several applications for the Crystals' power, including Karnak's Fire Crystal-powered ship. Cid is Mid's grandfather, and he loves his grandson dearly.

When Cid realizes that his inventions are weakening the Crystals to a possible breaking point, he tries to disconnect the Fire Crystal from the fire ship but Queen Karnak's soldiers stop and imprison him. Cid meets Bartz in prison, and following their release Bartz attempts to save the Fire Crystal from shattering but fail to do so. Cid is discouraged and depressed following this failure and is inconsolable until Mid inspires him to continue working. Later, Cid and Mid work together and use their engineering expertise to fix up the fire ship, the airship, and the submarine to facilitate the party's travel needs.
