Biography

Bartz is a free-spirited youth from the tiny mountain village of Lix, traveling the globe searching for adventure with his Chocobo, Boko. At the start of Final Fantasy V Bartz rescues Lenna from some hostile goblins in an area west of Tycoon Castle, and soon after happens upon Galuf at the impact site of a fallen meteor. Somewhat reluctantly, Bartz agrees to accompany his two new acquaintances to the Wind Shrine. At the Wind Shrine, the crystals identify Bartz with the spirit of wind, Pursuit.

In-game, Bartz's inherent stats give him the highest Strength in the game, with serviceable Stamina and Speed and below-average Magic. This makes him well-suited to physical attacking jobs like the Knight or Monk, but the differences in inherent character stats are small enough that it is hardly a major advantage. Bartz's natural element is Wind, so in Final Fantasy V Advance his Finisher skill deals wind damage.
