X-Death

Biography

X-Death is the evil warlord / warlock who serves as the main antagonist of Final Fantasy V. He was imprisoned in Bartz's world with a seal held together by the four Crystals, and commands powerful dark magics and an army of monsters. His ultimate goal is to obtain the power of the Void that was lost one thousand years ago and to use it to drag all of existence into darkness.

Thirty years ago, the residents of Galuf's world used the power of the Crystals to imprison evil souls into a tree in the Forest of Moore. Over time, the presence of the evil souls corrupted the tree and made it self-aware, eventually transforming it into the malevolent being known as X-Death. After uprooting himself, X-Death wrought havoc on Galuf's world but was defeated by the Warriors of Dawn, who imprisoned X-Death in Bartz's world. In the events of Final Fantasy V, X-Death uses his dark magic to influence the minds of King Tycoon, Queen Karnak, and others to destroy the world's Crystals and free the warlock, so he can once again seek the power of Void and use it to utterly destroy both worlds.
