Final Fantasy Tactics Walkthrough
This next battle has been heavily telegraphed for a while now, but that doesn't make it any easier. Going toe-to-toe is a rough plan unless you've been grinding for quite a while, so most players tend to go with guile rather than sheer force (or, they do once they read the strategies that you're about to learn).

Finally, Ramza goes one-on-one with Wiegraf. Unless you're well-prepared, he can annihilate you without too much fuss, and this isn't one of those plot-driving Final Fantasy battles where you're supposed to die. You have to win this battle, and there are various means you can take to achieve it.
First of all, if you haven't been doing it before now, you should get Auto Potion and give it to Ramza, and you should dispose of all of your potions except for
X-Potions. This will ensure that when Ramza is attacked, he'll have a good chance of restoring 150 HP to himself. With nobody else available to heal him in this battle, it will allow you to focus more on buffs and inflicting damage - this will make the battle a whole lot easier.
Physically attacking Wiegraf via melee is not likely to be a positive outcome unless, again, you are strong and well-equipped. That said, there are many different means of defeating Wiegraf. Ninjas remain good if you want to go the close-combat route, though you might also want to have the Knight's Equip Armor ability on Ramza to manage the Ninja's low standard HP.
You can also make Ramza a Lancer and jump on Wiegraf over and over, keeping Ramza out of harm's way while he's in the air. This is risky because Wiegraf is faster than a typical Lancer and can get some shots in between jumps (or just get out of the way).
The most famous strategy for this battle, though, has you using Ramza's Squire skillset either as primary or secondary, and using Yell repeatedly to increase his speed, giving him multiple attacks to each of Wiegraf's. After that, switch to Accumulate until you feel comfortable closing in and taking a shot at Wiegraf.
No matter what tactic you choose for this phase, it is very helpful to have your Ramza equipped with a big move radius and some good speed starting out. This is another reason that Ninja is a good call; they're quick to start with, and if you've moved Ramza up the job tree far enough to get to Ninja, you probably also have access to Thief's Move +2 ability. Stack that with a Move +1 accessory like
Battle Boots and you can spend a lot of time out of range of all of Wiegraf's attacks.
If you aim to keep distance between the two belligerents, you'll find that you can sometimes get Wiegraf to use Earth Slash instead of Lightning Stab, if he is in range at all. This is a good thing, as the former only does roughly 70% as much damage as the latter, giving you less healing to worry about. Keeping around the periphery of the battlefield will help in this regard, especially if you're using the cheesy-but-effective tactic of making yourself lightning-fast.
No time to rest after this slog - the party you chose at the start of this battle but didn't get to use will immediately be called into action. If you chose to buff Ramza to an absurd amount as described above, those buffs will carry over as well!
You'll not get the opportunity to save after this battle, as the game treats both this battle and the next as one continuous fight.
