You’re in the clear to make it to Lionel Castle. There, the party meets Draclau, who explains more about the Zodiac Brave Story. You also get a chance to hear more about Mustadio’s predicament. A holy stone was found in his city, and a company called Bart Company is after it. However, Mustadio’s father gave it to Mustadio and told him to run away and find the Cardinal. Draclau assures Mustadio that he will send men to stop Bart Company, which has tons of underhanded deals. Mustadio asks Ramza if he can go back to Goug with him, and Agrias and Ovelia decide to stay in Lionel for the time being.

16. Zigolis Swamp

Enemies: Skeleton x2, Ghoul x2, Flotiball x1, Bone Snatch x1
Guest Characters: Mustadio
Geomancy Available: Hell Ivy, Kamaitachi, Local Quake, Pitfall, Quicksand

Finally, a battle with four open character slots. Use them to your advantage and bring along someone with fire spells because all the enemies in this battle are weak to fire. At the same time, try to get Seal Evil for Mustadio (You only can if you got a lot of JP for him in the last two battles) because if successful, it will kill undead enemies in one hit, which is amazing in this battle. There’s not much strategy to this battle except to stay out of the water/swamp areas, which are poisoned. Items work really well in this battle because they do damage to undead, so a Hi-Potion will actually do 70 damage instead of healing 70 HP.

*At this time you should save your game in a second slot, keeping your first slot outside of the city, because when you enter, you can’t go out, and if you’re not ready it will be very difficult. Throughout the walkthrough I’ll commonly refer to a second slot for saving -- you don’t need a separate slot for every single part, just two slots total: one for your regular game, and one for saving inside of places where battles are consecutive. This allows you to continue on while not having to worry about getting stuck.*
