At Yardow Fort City, the next battle begins with a girl named Rafa pleading for your help. Her brother, Malak, is there waiting with a trap for Ramza on his way to Riovanes.

28. Yardow Fort City

This battle can be difficult or easy, depending on how your levels are. The summoners can do damage but more than likely, you’re leveled high enough where you can shrug it off pretty easily. The best thing you can do here is have a character like Agrias hit all the Ninjas at once, since they seem to like to stand together in a line. Another strategy is to bring a Monk or two with Earth Slash and hit them all at once. Rafa will be annoying and will try to fight and run away at the same time, which will generally get her attacked. Make sure you’ve got someone healing her or you might lose the battle inadvertently. Malak won’t do much in this battle against you, so save him for last unless he just gets in the way. This battle isn’t too tough but it can surprise you if you’re not prepared. Bring someone with Raise 2 just in case, and it helps to have a Summoner to launch a big summon at the pesky Ninjas.

After the battle, Rafa will explain her situation to Ramza, how she was raised by Barinten after living as an orphan with Malak, her brother. However, Barinten had ulterior motives and she escaped without Malak, who is now pursuing her, oblivious to Barinten’s plot. Malak then delivers a message to Ramza that he is now not only to bring the Scriptures to Riovanes, but Rafa as well.
