1.8: Follow That Cart!

Follow Aeris up and over to Wall Market, which is the slummiest of the slums. Talk to everyone to learn more information about Tifa. If you manage to make your way to the very top, Aeris starts giggling, and formulates a rather interesting plan.

If you want to get through this section with minimal effort, the next paragraph will do it; otherwise, read beyond for more specific Cloud instructions.

There's some preparation required to get any character selected, and to start, you need a dress. Find the shop, talk to the dressmaker, then talk to her father in the bar. Once he's talked with you, talk to the dressmaker again. Her father, inspired by the unusual request, makes a dress for Cloud. Once done, go to the gym and do a squat contest to win a wig.

If you want Cloud, your first stop remains the Dress Shop. Every lady needs a dress, after all. However, the owner's been in a slump and can't make dresses, so he spends his days drinking in the bar. If Cloud can convice him to make a dress, however, there might just be hope...

So, go to the bar and have a chat with him (he's the guy by himself to the right). He's more than happy to make a dress for you, but you have to pick what type first. You can choose something... "That feels clean", or "That feels soft". But after that, you also need to decide what it looks like. Will it be something... "that looks shiny", or something "that shimmers"? The best combination is soft and shimmery, which is the Silk Dress, but clean gives you the Cotton Dress, while soft and shiny gets you the Satin Dress. Be forewarned that choosing the Satin Dress or Cotton Dress will automatically make the Don pick Tifa (more on this later), regardless of what else you get.

Now that you can get a dress, what about a wig? That spiky 'do is hardly womanly. The dress maker thinks you can get one from the gym. Odd looks aside, Big Bro is willing to part with a wig... if you can beat one of his guys in a squatting contest. To do the squats, just press the Switch, Cancel, and OK buttons in order and in time with yourself. Don't press the next button until the current movement is done, or Cloud'll just scratch his head and start over by pressing the Switch button. Take Big Bro up on his offer to practice beforehand and perfect your timing. For winning, you get a Blonde Wig, for tying you get a Dyed Wig, and for losing you get a plain Wig.

Now you need a little extra punch if you want to look and seem more like a Miss instead of a Mister. One of those things is perfume.

If you snooped around a bit in the bar, you would've found a lady holed up in the bathroom, and a guy outside doing the "pee-pee dance". She seems to need some medicine. But what kind? And how do you get it? You can get some with a Pharmacy Coupon, where do you get one of those?! At the restaurant.

Go to the restaurant and order anything off the menu. Doesn't matter what, just say that "It was all right" and you'll get a Pharmacy Coupon. Spiffy, eh? It costs you seventy gil up front, though. Now take it and exchange it for some medicine at the Pharmacy (the tent with the kid and the cat doll out front). You can choose between Disinfectant, Deodorant, or Digestive. She hardly needs deodorizing or disinfecting though, so take the Digestive and give it to the bathroom hog. If you took the Disinfectant, you get Cologne in exchange, but for Deodorant you get Flower Cologne. Digestive gets you the Sexy Cologne... sure to make the good Don's heart melt.

So now... what else makes a woman complete? Well, just randomly stopping in at the Materia shop (the little one in the upper right corner of the lower screen) to ask some questions, you'll find that the guy on the counter would like a favor. Since we're in the business of "favors" now, you can take him up on his offer, which is to stay at the Inn for a night and buy an item from their vending machine. Don't worry, he'll give you something in return, he says. Go stay at the Inn for a night (ten gil), and in the middle of the night Cloud will get up and go to the machine to buy something. You have three choices, costing fifty, 100, and 200 gil. Take one and go back to him in the morning to get your reward, which depends on how much you spent. For the fifty item you get Glass Tiara; for dropping one hundred you get a Ruby Tiara; and for the whole two hundred you get a Diamond Tiara. Not bad, not bad...

But there's still something missing here... underwear! But where do you get that? From the Honey Bee Inn, of all places. First go down there, but stop and chat with the guy pacing down at the bottom. He just can't bring himself to go, so he'll give you his Member's Card instead. Now take this and go talk with the bouncer at the front door to get in, sans Aeris.

There are five rooms here: the topmost one is the makeup room, and the other two rooms on the far right are occupied... but you can peep through the keyhole and spy on them inside. Pressing left and right will pan your view around so you can see more, and there are some... quite interesting things to see there. It's more fun to watch them for yourself, but make sure to look to the far right in the Lover's Room: you'll see a cameo by a future character doing hyper jumping jacks.

When you're ready for the real action, choose one of the other two rooms: the Group Room or the &$#% Room. You should also just watch for the best effect here, but the Group Room ultimately gets you Bikini Briefs, while the &$#% Room gets you Lingerie. You'll want the Lingerie if you want to impress Don Corneo... and if you want to feel sexay doin' it.

Before you leave, stop by the makeup room again and have them put makeup on Cloud. It'll go a long way towards impressing the Don.

Right. So now you have everything you need, or want. Go back to the dress shop and try everything on. Aeris will want to wear something nice, too, and she'll even show Cloud how to walk more like a woman. When you're done there, go on up to the Don's mansion.

So to sum all that up, here's the rundown on the Don Corneo minigame: Pretty much any combination of dresses and items will make Tifa get picked (the game is heavily weighted in her favor), but if you get the Silk Dress with a Blonde Wig, the results change. There are only two combinations that make Tifa get picked if you wear those - Silk Dress, Blonde Wig, and Cologne; Silk Dress, Blonde Wig, Cologne, and Glass Tiara. No underwear.

Every other combination using a Silk Dress gets Aeris picked, but wearing a Diamond Tiara with all the other best items will always get Cloud picked.

There are various fun things you can do with the Don (like playing along or resisting... or playing along to a point), and if you don't let Cloud get picked, you can even help or hurt things between you and Tifa or Aeris, depending on which of them was selected. So the only thing left to say on that is... enjoy!

Go down to the room you were in, if Tifa was picked, to rescue Aeris. Otherwise, Tifa comes up on her own. Go to the middle room behind the curtain, and have a conversation with Corneo.
