8. More Lion than Ant

Enemies: Goblin, Domovoi, Basilisk, Adamantoise, Yellow Jelly, Leshy, Antlion
Treasures: Sand Ruby, HarpLamia's Harp, OPotion, OTent, OPhoenix Down, OEther, Gold Needle, Spider's Silk, Antarctic Wind, Hourglass, Emergency Exit

Edward starts off pretty weak, so it may be a good idea before you enter the cave to level up a bit more, going back to the replenishing pots in Damcyan for your HP refill. I would suggest Edward be at level 9 before moving on, but hey, that's just me.

Antlion Cave is fairly easy to navigate. And, it's smaller than the Water Cavern, which is a big plus. The moment you step in, you'll immediately see three blue treasure chests just begging to be opened. As soon as you pluck them all, hit the passageway to the south. You'll now be in B2F. Same old story. Follow the path, get the treasures. Make sure you go into the room and look in the treasure chest to get a better weapon for Edward. You'll see a stairway leading down, but don't go there yet. There's a save point as well as more treasures around. Explore some more. It couldn't hurt. As soon as you save and nab all the pretty treasures, go down the stairs into the nest of the Antlion. Prepare to do battle:

This one is going to be a bit tough. Every time you attack, he's going to counter attack with a pin attack aptly named Counter. So you're going to have to attack smart, but attacking smart isn't going to be that much of a stretch. Have Cecil attack with his sword, Rydia use OChocobo more some big damage, and Edward also attack normally. However, when HP is running low, have him use potions to heal whoever needs it. If you keep your HP up, then he'll be a walk in the park.

At the end of the battle, you'll receive the Sand Ruby. Back to the surface with you.
